Project Overview

Seeking a volunteer to work with Arthritis Foundation Great West staff and volunteer leadership team to review existing local social media channels to determine best types of messaging on each: Facebook vs. Instagram / Events vs. Mission messaging. Need to understand correct messaging to complement the national Arthritis Foundation messaging posted on local sites. Local office is responsible for marketing strategy in their market.

Types of messaging: Events, mission, education programs, donor/volunteer recognitionArthritis is the #1 cause of disability in the US affecting over 56 million people. Arthritis Foundation Great West provides free programs and information to more than 2 million doctor-diagnosed arthritis patients in our market – including more than 6,000 children. As the Arthritis Foundation Great West office continues its transition into a more volunteer-led organization, staff and leadership have determined that we need to adjust our outreach methods. Email communications are no longer the preferred way of connecting with our community. We need to enhance our social media presence and quality of messaging to meet our core audience where they are - online.

The skilled volunteer’s work will have an immediate impact by teaching us key strategies for social media messaging and how the channels differ in their messaging. This in turn will enhance connections within the local arthritis community and allow us to grow the organization.Arthritis Foundation Great West has a strong volunteer local leadership board. We have two active board members who help manage and update our private Juvenile Arthritis Family Facebook pages. The project implementation will be ongoing with the goal of creating a strategic plan that staff and volunteers can update and refine in the future once the project is completed.
