Project Overview
Help us strengthen our day-to-day financial operations practices! We are seeking a volunteer accounting professional to assess our financial situation, specifically Accounts Payable and Receivable. We use the WAVE accounting software platform and do not want to transition to QuickBooks.
Based on your assessment of our organization's financial status, this project will include recording, computing, and classifying our organization's expenditures with revenue data. Your analysis/audit will assess the reliability of our financial representation of our financial health.
This is a two-phase project.
Phase one:
-Maintain accounting ledgers by posting account transactions. Record purchases.
-Verify accounts by reconciling statements and transactions. Reconcile expenditures with payouts to create accurate financial statements.
Phase two:
-We're hoping that our pro bono partner will provide a best practice suggestion /checklist for our future use with an up to one-hour feedback session of their time with our team on implementing suggestions.
We predict that this finance project will take from 36-40 hours to complete.
This project is a priority at this stage as we have increased transactions but are still very small in organization revenue size (990 Postcard returns). We need to have simple step-by-step instructions for reconciling transactions. QuickBooks proved too complicated for our level of expertise and transaction volume.
To prepare for this project, we have gathered our budgeting information and will share access to our financial management tools. We plan to implement the recommendations of this project by using the instructions/checklist you develop.
