Project Overview

Our Foundation is looking to expand our outreach for the "Health in the Neighborhood" Summit that we launched in December 2023. We need to work with a volunteer who can assist us with ensuring these Summits are sustainable.

We are our brother's and sister's keepers. Those of us who can have a responsibility to ensure that every person despite their socioeconomic background or their race has access to optimal health care. Current health policies creating the challenges that vulnerable and under-resourced patient communities face related to health inequity, health inequality, and health injustice policies that lead to devastation and harm for those most in need must be dismantled. Help us to help those who, due to fear or knowledge, lack the empowerment needed to use their voice and become their own advocate.

In October of 2023, our Foundation hosted a Patient-Centered Conference, which provided the data that was needed to create the seven courses that are now part of the C.H.L.M.S Medi-Helpz Foundation's "Health in the Neighborhood" Summit that we hosted as hybrid events throughout the year culminating with one in-person Gala in October. In addition to the above-referenced Patient-Centered Conference, we have also either completed or are in the process of completing the following steps:
(1) We have spoken to health organizations and governmental entities that have given approval for the summit programs.
(2) We have worked on redesigning our website and completed an upgrade to our written and printed material.
(3) We are working on the completion of two Summit events: (1) Kwanzaa & Health - which will be hosted on LinkedIn Live and Audio from December 26th - January 1, and Black Health History, which will be hosted on LinkedIn Live and Audio during the month of February. In addition to that, during the month of June, we will be hosting a month-long Juneteeth hybrid program at the Chicago Public Library. These programs will be held for 2 hours each Saturday during the month of June.
(4) We have reworked our website so that it is now user-friendly.
(5) We have a grant writer who is working on grants
(7) We have received a number of In-Kind donations
