Project Overview

We need a volunteer to research, identify, and submit 7-10 grant applications for our nonprofit. We have had success in rallying brand sponsorships, but have had difficulty maintaining support from a skilled grant writer. We are specifically looking for direct support from creative arts and sports foundations. There are also a few grants we've identified that are coming up that we'd like to submit. Through the applications, we'd like to build out a general proposal that can be utilized for future outreach.

Founded June 19, 2022, BGS is a community-built non-profit with a mission to increase the participation of black women athletes in action sport competitions and careers. We believe that through access, information, and opportunity, the world of action sports can grow to become more inclusive and intentional spaces for Black athletes. We believe that all people of color have a right to quality of life spaces, and if given the right development and resources, they will become viable competitors, artists, and engineers within the action sports industry. What we are missing in the financial infrastructure to execute and sustain. Support us with your time and talent!

We are increasing safety practices, informing health, rallying resources, encouraging equity, and developing play spaces for youth and young adult shredders (ages 18-25). We are specifically focused on the Black community and their IPOC (Indigenous/People of Color) peers supporting shredders of all styles and skill levels, including various action sports; skateboarding, roller skating, biking, surfing, figure skating, snowboarding, and more. Everything we do is in collaboration with community, intentionally centering those who identify as WOMEN, LGBTQIA, and GNC.

We are now working on our second grant application. We have reached out to a number of foundations who are open to having us submit proposals. Additionally, we have compiled a list of grants we'd like to apply to with links into a google tracker sheet. We have done the work to quantify our goals and successes. We have a full BOD and Advisory board that contributes to the programming and organizational oversight. We have sharpened our mission statement and are active on social platforms.
