Project Overview
We are looking for a volunteer who can edit captions for approximately 120 minutes of video (spread across 5 videos) for timing, spelling, and overall accuracy. This volunteer will pay particular attention to branded elements, including organizations' names and programmatic offerings (e.g. Beyond Differences, Be Kind Online, National Teen Board, Belonging Boosters, etc.).
Beyond Differences is dedicated to inspiring middle school students to end social isolation by creating cultures of belonging, but our small staff of 15 is already stretched thin creating and implementing our free lesson plans and educator training for schools across the country. A seasoned volunteer would be able to beautify and perfect captions on these videos in a fraction of the time it would take our much-less-experienced staff! These videos are interviews with experts in the field of storytelling and explore how educators can use storytelling as a tool to encourage student agency and leadership. The sooner they are captioned and accessible to the public, the sooner they can be released and used by the thousands of teachers, counselors, librarians, and school administrators we serve to empower their students and their communities.
Volunteers may utilize Beyond Differences YouTube Studio and/or Descript accounts or their own preferred caption editing software to correct the AI-generated transcript/captions provided by Zoom. Once the videos are appropriately captioned, they will be used in a special Summer of Storytelling campaign through email, social media, and our website blog. Videos may also be used in fundraising efforts, including our upcoming annual gala.

We provide schools with Social Emotional Learning tools to help tackle loneliness and foster a sense of belonging and complementary professional development for educators.
Our award-winning signature programs and SEL curriculum are used at 10,000+ schools across the nation, reaching over 4.5 million students in all 50 states.
