Project Overview

We are seeking a Board Development expert to strengthen and optimize our nonprofit's governance.

Project Activities:
* Help develop a tailored board development plan, including goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Help design and deliver board orientation, training to enhance board knowledge, skills, and engagement
* Provide 1-2 one-on-one coaching and support sessions for the board president
* Provide board recruitment recommendations (Taproot note: this board development volunteer will not be executing board recruitment activities as those are out-of-scope for this project)
* Recommend a structure for board meetings, committees, and task forces to ensure effective decision-making and communication
* Help us develop a process to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the board development plan, making recommendations for adjustments as needed.

The Black Girl Health Collective was created with a mission focused on, creating healthy informed communities by curating spaces to educate and promote autonomy in wellness and wholeness.

As we continue to grow and evolve, we recognize the importance of a strong and effective board of directors to guide our strategic direction and ensure our long-term sustainability and success. We are seeking an experienced professional to support our board development efforts and help us build a high-performing team that drives our mission forward. We are seeking someone to help support a critical component of our organizational growth strategy. The ideal candidate will work closely with our leadership team and board members to:

* Assess our current board structure composition, and governance practices
* Develop a comprehensive board development plan to enhance board effectiveness and engagement
* Help us develop a training, coaching, and facilitation to support board members in their roles and responsibilities
* Help us plan to Identify and recruit new board members who bring diverse perspectives, skills, and expertise
* Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and transparency within the board and across the organization
We currently have a 4 member board of directors that meet routinely. Our bylaws have been developed and shared and we have had 3 meetings so far.
