Vietnamese American Services (VAS) nears its 10 years of services and support for the Vietnamese community living in Montgomery, County, MD. Our board of directors recognizes the importance of a strategic plan that will examine the vision, mission, and core values of our organization. We seek an experienced volunteer who can facilitate the development of a strategic plan for 2025-2028.

Launching the first-ever Strategic Plan will enable VAS to navigate future challenges and opportunities effectively. VAS’ Board is a diverse body of community leaders, experienced managers, and program specialists, who are eager to be involved throughout this strategic planning effort. With the guidance of organizational development volunteers, their knowledge and expertise will be essential to VAS’ Strategic Planning activities. Developing and implementing a clearly defined direction and focus is crucial to build our capacity to better serve the 43,000 Vietnamese/Asian Americans living in the Greater Washington Metro area.

Vietnamese American Services (VAS) was established in 2015 to support the growing, but underserved Vietnamese Americans living in Montgomery County, Maryland. With over 2.3 million Vietnamese Americans across the nation, more than 43,000 reside in the Washington metro area. VAS recognizes the pressing need to expand its capacity and services to meet the needs of this multi-generational community. By initiating a 4-year Strategic Plan, VAS will have the foundation necessary for making good decisions that can impact its mission going forward. The involvement of skilled volunteers will provide valuable experience and practical applications that will help VAS to build a strong vibrant organization.

Scope of Work:
• Facilitate the organizational planning process;
• Review current organizational activities, board leadership, staff structure, and administrative systems.
Evaluate current programming, funding, communications, and community partners.
• Design and prepare materials for key components of the strategic planning retreat;
• Adapt a work plan template to support the implementation of the Action Plan

We have prepared for the project by ensuring there will be a seamless implementation process. Volunteers will have historical materials and documents that include the mission, vision, core values, and program summaries. The website offers in-depth information on programs and full financial statements. Our Board members and senior managers are poised to offer insights, vital information, and address any related queries. A dedicated Project Manager will work closely with volunteers, and our team has committed to allocating a minimum of 3 hours per week collectively for this endeavor.
Upon completion, this strategic plan will serve as a structural platform for steering our nonprofit organization’s ability to grow and thrive with the necessary resources.
