Session Overview
We are a small nonprofit and I am the first employee. We are five years old and had been entirely volunteer led. As we switch to a staff model, we need to think about hiring and recruiting process, staff needs, employee handbook, and best practices for staff. I would welcome the insight of a professional as we seek to address creating an employee handbook that will meet our needs.
Nonprofit Overview
Nurse-Family Partnership is a nationwide, evidence-based home visiting model for low-income pregnant mothers. Nurses visit mothers from pregnancy until their child is two years old, providing education and support to create dramatic improvements in outcomes for babies.
As The Friends, our mission is to improve babies’ lives by assuring that NYC NFP has the resources to fully achieve its goals. We provide financial assistance to mothers to allow them to pursue higher education and we pay for activities and events that increase their social and community connections. We also provide benefits for nurses that advance their skills and contribute to their satisfaction and retention. None of these additional services are available under the basic government-funded program. Friends increases the impact of the program on NYC clients.
