Session Overview
In this session, I'd like to focus on refining our fundraising plan in the following ways: help to locate appropriate grants and identify effective fundraising events. We have gotten very small grant awards but need to secure larger awards for our special project: 'The Before Slavery Exhibition'. We have been attracting some social media attention and have encouraging numbers in webinar attendance, but we need more participation in fundraising events.
The photo shows volunteers solving the problem of making our animatronic robot appear life-like. We built the robot from scratch. It will address our audience and tell a story of why history and a sense of identity is important to your health. In this photo they are creating "skin" for the robot.
Nonprofit Overview
“Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” ~ philosopher George Santayana 1905
The Before Slavery Experience chronicles pre-slavery history and tells the story of the cultures from which African Americans came. We educate through exhibitions, community programs and varied events. We seek to inspire a positive outlook.
The Before Slavery Exhibition is a project of the Vibrant Health Association (VHA). The VHA mission is to educate the public that the results of slavery impact the health of this population causing disproportionately higher rates of debilitating and life-threatening disease; and to counter those effects with self-knowledge, and stress reduction activities.
