Session Overview
At Make-A-Wish International works with Affiliates from 39 markets, covering nearly 50 countries. Most of those Affiliates now have some challenges in retaining both paid staff and volunteers. COVID made it hard for us to grant all wishes (for example, we suspended all travel wishes for obvious reasons). Now that much is possible again, we have concerns that the Great Resignation will not pass us by. As a charity, we have limited capacity to do something about salaries, so we are very dependent on creative retention strategies. This is where the Make-A-Wish International team would love to spend some time with a creative, experienced HR professional, ideally with some international experience.
Goal would be to brainstorm on how our organization can best retain both volunteers and paid staff across many different countries. What are small interventions that can make a difference? What structural elements can we put in place? Please understand that our HR functions are quite limited - some of the larger Affiliates have dedicated staff, but in many smaller ones (and in our own team), HR is not a separate function. Thanks very much in advance!
