Grant Writing/ Funding Resarch

We need help with writing grants to secure funding for our nonprofit to reach our goals for maternal mental health, families and communities. We have limited experience in grant writing and need guidance to write an effective grant to secure funding.

Up to 1 in 5 women suffer from Maternal Mental Health (MMH) disorders in the U.S. each year. Research shows that this number has more than doubled during the pandemic. Less than 15% of women diagnosed with a maternal mental health disorder receive treatment. With increased demand and barriers to mental health care because of the pandemic, even fewer moms received treatment. Roughly 1 in 5 women are not asked about depression during prenatal visits despite universal screening being recommended. Up to 50% of women living in poverty will suffer from a maternal mental health disorder. Up to fifteen percent (15%) of women will develop anxiety during pregnancy or after childbirth. 70-100% of women (and their partners) have “intrusive” thoughts surrounding childbirth/the postpartum period. Now, more than ever, it is important to address barriers to maternal mental health care and treatment. Conscious Moms aims to cultivate a community of kindness and awareness for moms for maternal mental health, families and communities.

We have identified ~5 grants to apply for funding for maternal mental health and the goals of our nonprofit organization. We are also researching data and studies to support the need for the efforts of our nonprofit organization.
