Mission & Vision Statement Development

A Positive You's mission is to spread love through people-to-people partnerships to promote products and services that will assist individuals in attaining healthier minds, bodies, and spirits. A Positive You Nutrition and Food Store is a nonprofit business aimed at increasing the availability of healthy food options and proper nutrition awareness in DeKalb County, Georgia. Obesity is a significant challenge in DeKalb County. Approximately 30% of adults and 13% of high school students in the county are obese. Furthermore, 73.4% of adults and 79% of youth do not consume the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables, and 18.9% of adults reported no physical activity in the last 30 days. Obesity increases risks for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis-related disabilities, and some cancers. Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death among DeKalb residents. Cancer, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disease are the top three leading causes of death in DeKalb County. Our goal is to ensure residents of our community choose healthier food, beverages, and natural supplement options from their local health food store. In DeKalb County, there is a drastic need for stores that provide quick, healthy food choices, such as local farmer's markets, community gardens, home food production, and improved store stocks of raw fruits and vegetables. A Positive You seeks to create a space where individuals can learn about healthy eating and plant-based solutions to achieve optimal whole health and well-being. More importantly, it is our goal to foster the love and support of one another to come together to support each other on our journey to better health.
