Project Overview

Our nonprofit is searching for a grant writer or talented copywriter to assist our team in reviewing a grant proposal and making updates.

To implement this grant writing project, we'll need two meetings with a volunteer. In our first meeting, we will provide you with a copy and review the application draft with you. We'll align on expectations and agree on the project timeline. Next, you'll review our document using the track changes function checking for inconsistencies and continuity errors, and create a list of recommended changes to share with us. The project will conclude after up to two rounds of edits which the volunteer will make the agreed-upon changes to the document.

I am a "self-taught" grant writer for our therapeutic riding program - I average writing 3-4 grants a month, some small (under $5000) and some larger - ($20,000-50,000) We never get the large grants sought. Occasionally, we do get the smaller ones. We have been in operation for 24 years, and our growth is stagnant right now. The founder needed to pull back on the hands-on operations (that would be me - grants are what I can work on now). We have never been able to hire an ED or professional Development Director, and without these folks, our board has been running the program on a volunteer basis for over a year. None of us want to see the program end, but everyone's gigantic efforts is not sustainable long term. We need professional management and finding funding to help support organizational growth has been hard.

Being able to write grants that attract approval is essential for our continued sustainability. We have saved people from suicide, helped at-risk teens learn how to make better life choices, and brought empowerment and joy to those with lifelong and acquired disabilities (congenital birth defects, acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and much more).

If this is not found to be a compelling pitch by our volunteer, we also need guidance in WRITING a compelling pitch!

We have a dedicated team member for the project who will provide you with the document that needs to be reviewed in an easily shareable format. (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.). We'll also send you the proposal and application guidelines. We are even hoping to be able to provide some of our declined applications in hopes of someone helping us make them more competitive.
