[Big Bend In-Person Volunteering] Videography or Photography for Educational Events
We are looking for a skilled photographer/videographer to document some exciting projects, workshops, and student programs this year.
For the last four years the School of Constructive Arts has been providing high-caliber, free education on regenerative design and earth building to students from diverse backgrounds. This year we are working on a community earth building with the French Grocer in Marathon, TX, before teaching our sixth Student Volunteer Program, and hosting a masonry vault building workshop taught by expert Bovedero James Anthony in November. Our campus is located in the beautiful Big Bend region of West Texas. We will be living communally on site, cooking meals, and working on regenerative building projects from now until December. In December we will teach a workshop on compressed earth block manufacturing and produce CEBs for a nonprofit in the Texas Hill Country. We can provide food and (rustic) accommodations for anyone willing to donate their time and help us document this important work.
High quality photos and videos donated by talented photographers and cinematographers have been essential to telling our story and growing our grass-roots organization. We are about to enter into our most exciting season yet and don't have anyone signed on to document this work. The Big Bend region is visually stunning and the work we are doing is unique and engaging on film. We are empowering a new generation of builders through an unconventional but rigorous education model that combines hands-on practice, classroom study, and service. We are working with local communities to build lasting, healthy, buildings from the earth using time honored traditional knowledge and advancing technology. We need your help to tell the story of this project and to get a new generation excited about direct, constructive action to give people shelter while healing the earth.
We have hired additional staff and instructors to teach during this critical period. We have some camera equipment available for use as well as hard drives, tripods, and other equipment should you need it. We have made extensive preparations for these programs and believe they will be unlike anything currently being offered. We plan to release a series of short videos and photos on social media through out the season. Once the season wraps up we plan to utilize the media documented during the sessions to put together a short (5-10 min) pitch documentary to utilize in sharing the project with the broader world and finding supporters to help us fund the next chapter of this radical free education project.
