Currently Moveable Feast Lex operates only within Fayette County limits. We are interested in developing the framework to expand limited offerings to the surrounding counties, focusing on Clark County and Bourbon County. The goal is to look at the feasibility of providing frozen meals to emergency shelters, people who are HIV/AIDS positive, and hospice providers for no cost to the recipient. This would require separate grant prospecting from our core focus as our current grant structure is conditional to our existing services.
For 30 years, Moveable Feast Lexington has been an essential provider of nutritious meals to people in Fayette County with HIV/AIDS and those in hospice care with limited financial resources. As we look to the future, the goal is to expand services we provide without compromising our core mission. Lexington-Fayette County is surrounded by rural counties which often face issues regarding access to affordable, healthy food. We would like to meet that challenge, diversify our model, and offer support to those who often live in the outer counties yet shop, work, and contribute to the greater Bluegrass area.
This request is to fulfill preliminary steps to determine feasibility, timeline, and assess demand for this potential new service. In order to write the grant requests for expansion, we need clear metrics.
