My goal for this Taproot project is to create a clear and actionable fundraising strategy, supported by targeted donor research, so that Movement in Refuge can successfully scale up its program for refugee youth in Bangladesh.

With your support, we’d like to: a) Review our current fundraising efforts and identify gaps. b) Design a 12-month roadmap with realistic goals to raise $500,000. c) Recommend a mix of funding sources (foundations, corporate partners, individuals, peer-to-peer). d) Research 15-30 prospective donors and funders aligned with our mission. e) Capture details on giving priorities, past grants, and proposal deadlines. f) Suggest tools and templates for donor tracking and engagement.

The outcome will be a fundraising plan and donor prospect list that our board and team can immediately begin using to expand our impact and empower refugee youth through sports and recreation.
Join us in empowering refugee youth—especially girls—in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, through the power of sports and recreation. By helping us build a fundraising strategy and donor pipeline, you’ll provide the foundation we need to secure $500,000 and scale up our current programs. Your skills will directly translate into more safe spaces, sports opportunities, and hope for young refugees who need it most.
My team and I have prepared for this project by building a strong foundation for Movement in Refuge and ensuring that we are ready to act on the recommendations we receive. We have secured board commitment to fundraising as a top priority, identified a target of $500,000 to scale up our program in Cox’s Bazar, and mapped out the types of donors and partners we hope to engage (foundations, corporations, and individual supporters).
We have also gathered background materials—including our mission statement, draft program budget, and current outreach materials—so that the volunteer will have everything needed to get started quickly. Once the project deliverables are in place, our board and leadership team will be responsible for implementing the fundraising plan and donor outreach strategy.
By coming into this engagement prepared, with clear goals and committed leadership, we hope to give our volunteer confidence that their pro bono contribution will be valued, acted upon, and translated directly into impact for refugee youth.

Organization Mission

Movement in Refuge (MIR) brings sport and physical movement to refugee and host communities, starting in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. We create spaces for young people—especially girls—to move, play, connect, and thrive. In places where opportunities are scarce, MIR offers hope, and community through the universal language of sport.
