Our goal for this Taproot Project is to grow our Girl Scout partnership beyond the 5 boroughs. We have created an Age & Youth in Action patch (mini badge) that has been earned by 300 scouts in New York City. Now we want to expand the program throughout New York State, New Jersey, and Connecticut. In the future, we hope to go national and include boys.

We plan to create a brief introductory video and travel throughout the state to promote intergenerational connections. We arer seeking a volunteer grant writer to help secure funding to bring this vision to fruition.

Gray Panthers' motto is Age & Youth in Action. Founded in 1970 Maggie Kuhn, the organization aims to foster meaningful intergenerational engagement. Our city-based program has already shown strong results, with positive feedback and engagement from participating troops. By gathering metrics and creating a compelling grant proposal, volunteers will help scale the program statewide and support lasting intergenerational connections.

We will provide program photos, feedback data, and access to Girl Scout staff. Volunteers will collaborate with our team to gather metrics, develop persuasive materials, and submit a grant proposal that helps expand the Age & Youth in Action program.
