Magnolia Project is looking to partner with an experienced graphic designer to re-vamp our social media channels and newsletters. We'd love to give a volunteer passionate about social media marketing and graphic design the opportunity to help us elevate our brand and grow our reach. Specifically, we are seeking support with designing social media and newsletter graphics, post templates, and creating a short content calendar that make our channels and newsletters consistent, engaging, and easy to sustain.
Magnolia Project’s mission is to ensure that rural and low-income students in public schools throughout California have access to meaningful, hands-on career exploration and apprenticeship opportunities embedded into the school day, opening doors to futures they may not have thought possible. To achieve this, we rely on three things: strong mentor recruitment and more consistent local fundraising. With refreshed messaging, polished collateral, and stronger social media/newsletter presence, we’ll be able to recruit more mentors by clearly showing local business owners and professionals how easy and rewarding it is to get involved. We will also be able to engage more local donors with compelling stories, data, and visuals that will help us raise more money to support more students. We have ambitions to grow our organization and programs nationally, and this work would be a huge stepping stone to doing that.
Magnolia Project is ready to make the most of this partnership. We’ve secured full buy-in from our staff and board, and have already identified one point person who will manage the project, provide timely feedback, and keep things moving. Our team has gathered a library of student quotes, mentor testimonials, photos, and sample materials (past flyers, newsletters, one-pagers) that will give volunteers a strong starting point. We are a super collaborative team, and would definitely work collaboratively with the volunteer on this project. We will work hard to make this happen!

Organization Mission

For too many students in California, particularly low-income students, school feels irrelevant and disconnected from real life experiences, leading to a lack of preparation for the future at best – and disengagement, chronic absenteeism, and dropouts at worst. Magnolia Project engages and prepares middle and high school students for their meaningful next phase after K-12 – whether that is college, career, or another path by connecting middle and high school students with durable skills through personalized career exploration as well as hands-on experiences alongside trusted industry mentors. Magnolia Project’s vision is that when students are supported, affirmed, and comprehensively prepared for this meaningful next phase, that they and their families, communities, and local economies will flourish around them.
