Website development: Improving website performance and making the content more engaging

Our current website - refushe.org - was development 8-9 years ago and has been largely un-changed, outside of periodic narrative updates. Below is a breakdown of the objectives we seek to achieve through this partnership:

Objective 1: In collaboration with Communications team and volunteer Communications Committee, the volunteer would complete a website audit that identifies areas of content/visuals that need to be updated, general performance issues and strategies to improve SEO, and strategies to improve website engagement through integration of CTA's

Objective 2: The volunteer would work with staff and volunteer committee to prioritize needs outlined in the audit and develop a week-by-week action plan to complete highest-priority actions.

Objective 3: Execute week-by-week plan and share recommendations with staff/committee about best practices for maintaining strong website performance moving forward (including consult on whether Squarespace is still the best hosting platform to use).

As an organization that is based in Nairobi, our website plays a particularly important role as the front door of our organization, which is primarily supported by North American donors. We want our website visitors to feel immersed in our mission, programs, and the stories of our participants. A fully-optimized website will grow our community of supporters dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned and unaccompanied refugee girls and young women.

We have received full buy-in for this website improvement project from our leadership and 5-person Communications Committee. This is a top-priority project and I am committed to providing the volunteer with as much support as needed to ensure we meet the project's objectives.
