Board Onboarding and Governance Framework

The New Hampshire Montessori Association Board is looking for a volunteer to help with board development. Our goal is to bring our bylaws up to date and reflect who we are as an organization.

We are looking for help in creating an onboarding process with complementary orientation materials and a governance guide that outlines roles, and expectations.

Our mission is to create a forum for the continuing education of Montessori teachers in New Hampshire and to promote the Montessori philosophy in our state. Since I took the position of board president in 2023, we as a board have been working on building engagement within our New Hampshire Montessori community. We are at the stage where we need guidance in creating comprehensive bylaws with systems in place to help new board members feel secure and empowered in their board seat.

Our goal is to get our board and our process streamlined so we may allocate more of our energy to our community and the needs they may have.

The Association board of directors has all voted and agreed that this is the first step in setting us up for success. As Montessorians, if something in our classroom is not working right we are taught to first look at ourselves, then the environment, then the child. Over the last several months, our association has leaned into that theory and if we want change, we must first look within. This is why we are seeking support.

By refining how our organization operates, we hope to appeal to more Montessori educators, Montessori schools, as well as other educators in our state and region.
