Help us complete the final phases of our financial cleanup and build a short-term financial model to guide our transition back to strong internal systems.

Deliverables:
- Reconcile older records and confirm accuracy of recently stabilized books.
- Build a short-term financial model outlining our runway, projected cash flow, and system-rebuild costs.
- Map steps and assumptions for returning to fully internal financial management.
- Provide practical recommendations for compliance and organization during reorganization.
This is a time-bound, task-focused project (2–5 hours per week). This work will strengthen the financial foundation that supports our grantmaking and capacity-building work across Central Appalachia, ensuring clarity, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
We have prepared for this project by engaging external bookkeeping and comptroller services to stabilize the most urgent pieces of our financial infrastructure. Our records are now organized enough for a volunteer to work effectively, and we can provide all relevant reports, reconciliations, and background documents. We have a dedicated project lead, a defined scope, and weekly check-in capacity to ensure the volunteer receives timely guidance and feedback. The outcomes of this project will be used immediately as we rebuild our internal systems.

Organization Mission

ACF funds and encourages grassroots social change in Central Appalachia. We work to build a sustainable base of resources in order to support community-led organizations seeking to overcome and address issues of race, economic status, gender, sexual identity, disability, and the environment. As a community-controlled fund, ACF aims to expand and strengthen movements for social change — to change systems and institutions — by leveraging our collective power.
