Session Overview
Family Builders provides direct services in foster care and adoption, working with children and youth who face the most barriers to permanency. We need to grow its unrestricted private funding (government contracts do not allow flexibility) for crucial staff professional development and retention,-competitive salaries, innovative programs, diversity/equity/inclusion and anti-racism training. (1) Where do I go for project based organizational development/professional development funding or resources? (2) How do I break the firewall of "no unsolicited requests" at foundations? (2) Is there a strategy for reaching lesser known family foundations that do not have public-facing staff or contact information?
Nonprofit Overview
Family Builders by Adoption is a welcoming and inclusive nonprofit foster family and adoption agency. We believe every child has the right to grow up in a loving, nurturing permanent family. Family Builders educates the community about the needs of children in foster care, advocates on their behalf, and places children with families through adoption and other forms of permanence. We work with birth, foster, and adoptive parents and caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth to ensure they have the knowledge and resources to help their children thrive, and provide resources and support to all families impacted by the foster care system. Family Builders’ goal is that no child will leave the foster care system without a permanent, loving and caring parent.
