Taproot’s newly updated Pro Bono Valuation is our calculation estimating the market value of each hour of pro bono service provided by a skilled volunteer. This is an essential tool for companies and CSR professionals, nonprofits, foundations and volunteers across the sector as they assess and measure the contributions of pro bono work. It was calculated based on the 2024 Salary Guide from Robert Half as well as salary and wage data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Averaged across various professions, the current valuation is $220 per hour, up 18% from 2019, underscoring the growing significance of pro bono contributions.
Watch this webinar, recorded on August 27, 2024, to hear from Alex Guiney, a Senior Consultant on Taproot’s Advisory Services Team who’s played a key role in developing/calculating the Pro Bono Valuation.
He’ll explain how the hourly value:
- offers insight for CSR professionals into the magnitude of value their employees’ pro bono service provides
- allows nonprofits and foundations to quantify and share the in-kind resources and contributions made by skilled volunteers with their stakeholders
- helps individual volunteers understand and illustrate the dollar value of their work
Guiney will also cover how the Pro Bono Valuation is calculated, what the spirit of it is and why we as practitioners know it is important, as well as what challenges we perceive it solving.
