As we start to wind down 2013, there’s no better time to start thinking about giving back to make a difference in the new year. But before we do that, let’s take a moment to celebrate the good work done this past year. And there’s certainly A LOT to celebrate.
Since January, thanks to our pro bono consultants, we have completed Service Grants for more than 230 nonprofits. That doesn’t even count the 200+ ongoing Service Grants that aren’t yet complete.
Simply put, that’s incredible. Thank you to all who contributed their skills.
In 2014, we have the opportunity to deliver more good pro bono to nonprofits that need support through the Service Grant Program. If you live in one of our five regions (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles or DC) you can be a part of it. Take a look at some of the amazing nonprofits we’re excited to work with in each of these regions. Staffing for these projects begins in the coming weeks.
Giving back in New York City
Are you a Salesforce expert in New York? The Mercy Center needs your help to move from their current data management system to Salesforce so they can better track data about their constituents to improve service delivery and use that data to communicate with funders.
With this Salesforce Service Grant, the Mercy Center can continue offering programs and services that empower women to reach their full potential and become agents of change in their families and communities. They promote the right of each person to an improved quality of life by addressing the needs of the whole person, developing skills for healthy family living and economic advancement, and building a community of respect, hospitality, and non-violence through comprehensive, holistic programs and services. You can be a part of that incredible work this new year.
This service grant will staff: a project manager, configuration specialist, data analyst, and business analyst.
Giving back in SF Bay Area
In the San Francisco Bay Area, Warrior Gateway develops innovative technology solutions to connect veterans and military families to each other, to the communities in which they live and to local resources and services. To strengthen their work with service members and military families, they need to develop a marketing platform from which to tell their story as they continue to grow.
In this Pro Bono Recruitment Service Grant, a pro bono team will work with Warrior Gateway to design the infrastructure and the tools to engage a pro bono marketing volunteer. In doing so, the team will not only recruit needed marketing talent now, but will also provide a long-term impact by building the infrastructure for future pro bono support.
This service grant will staff: a project manager, recruitment strategist, HR strategist, and marketing manager.
Giving back in Chicago
The Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health is a network of empowered youth and allied adults who transform public consciousness and increase the capacity of family, school and healthcare systems to support the sexual health, rights, and identities of youth.
To bolster this important work, they are ready to reimagine their website, to make it a launchpad for visitors such as youth, adult network members, funders and donors, and organizations who would like to collaborate or make use of the resources they provide.
This WordPress Website Service Grant will staff: a project manager, WordPress web developer, graphic designer, content manager, and marketing manager.
Giving back in Washington, DC
In DC, Calvary Women’s Services has offered services and housing to women in the District for 30 years. Through their programs and services, they carry out their mission to offer a safe, caring place for tonight; support, hope, and change for tomorrow.
At this time, Calvary Women’s Services wants to strategically expand its volunteer program to keep up with its expansion in housing capacity and variety of services. You can be a part of building a more vibrant volunteer program that engages the community and offers a wide range of opportunities for individuals, families, and groups to volunteer.
This Volunteer Management Service Grant will staff: a project manager, HR strategists, and HR generalist.
Giving back in Los Angeles
Last, but not least, two service grants to highlight for amazing nonprofits in LA.
The first, a Key Messages and Brand Strategy Service Grant, will help Instituto de Educacion Popular del Sur de California (IDEPSCA) increase its overall marketing efforts to assist our working families. IDEPSCA has more than two decades of experience in literacy training, worker organizing, and leadership development, and has built the organizational tools to successfully educate and organize with immigrants and their families. But they need your help to create sharp messaging to tell the story of their work.
This service grant will staff: a project manager, brand strategist, marketing manager, and copywriter.
The second nonprofit, Southern California College Access Network, is in need of a Salesforce Service Grant. As a network of over 50 community-based organizations, SoCal CAN works to increase the number of low-income students who access and complete a postsecondary education, and the need for a Salesforce database is great. Successful implementation of a Salesforce database would bring incredible value as they manage data on multiple organizations, students, donors, and volunteers.
This service grant will staff: a project manager, configuration specialist, data analyst, and business analyst.
These are just a few of the many incredible organizations with Service Grants that will soon be staffing in the new year.
If one of these projects seems like a great fit for you, log in and let the Account Director for that project know why you’re interested. Don’t be afraid to reach out to multiple Account Directors. Staffing on some projects can be competitive.
As always, we can’t guarantee that you’ll be staffed on any particular project, but we can guarantee that we couldn’t do this without you.
