Project Overview
We are a small startup 501(c)(3) nonprofit and need a CPA with nonprofit experience to check our homework, so to speak. Our co-founder is a former non-profit accountant with QuickBooks Online experience. What that means for you is she knows what she doesn't know. We are so small that we file a postcard 990. We have fewer than 50 transactions from August 2022 to December 2023 in total. We have one checking account that is reconciled monthly, as are our PayPal and Stripe holding accounts. Statements and backups for transactions are attached in QBO.
We want to make sure our COA is correct, that the few transactions we have are categorized correctly, and that our financials are accurately prepared. We also have a couple of nonprofit accounting questions.
Our organization helps protect African penguins from extinction. We don't plan on staying this small. We are loyal to our supporters.
QuickBooks Online is current and ready for you. If you need any other documents, we're happy to provide them. If it's easier for you, we can add you as an accountant. Once your review is complete, we can have confidence that our nonprofit financials are prepared correctly, which will be a huge help as we apply for funding and increase our profile on Candid.
Nonprofit Overview
KruShan Foundation, co-founded by Kruger and Shannon du Plessis, works to protect endangered African penguins from extinction. Much like a canary in a coal mine, the iconic African penguin is an indicator species whose status warns of the effects of climate change on oceans, our planet's lungs, and, therefore, us. Amidst the fear and stress of the climate crisis, we choose hope and action by helping to save one species from extinction.
We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity based in Wimberley, Texas. Tax ID # 87-4716839
