We are looking for an Excel savvy volunteer to help us with three Excel files or Google Sheets.

The three Excel files include: (1) a user-friendly loan collection and disbursement database (2) a salary advance/loan tracker for our employees and (3) a dashboard to track spend across various grants. Specifically, the volunteer will mentor and train our Finance Manager to put the finishing touches on these three Excel files. We already have working drafts of each but we know that each file could be much more functional if it incorporates advanced Excel tricks.

By setting up a loan collection and disbursement database in Excel, our nonprofit organization can better keep track of loan repayments, outstanding balances, and the impact of our agricultural loans on farmers. This will help us ensure the project's sustainability and success. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to transfer their knowledge to a finance professional in Zambia. The knowledge will last her a lifetime!

The volunteer will team up with our Finance Manager to enhance the current Excel spreadsheets that track farmer payments, outstanding loans/advances to employees, and a dashboard that tracks burn rates on grants. They will collaborate online to upgrade the tool. The Manager is open to matching the volunteer's schedule and holding virtual meetings via Google Meet or WhatsApp to accommodate Zambia's limited internet bandwidth. Please note that the Finance Manager is based in Lusaka, Zambia which is 6 hours ahead of US EST and 9 hours ahead of US PST. However, the Finance Manager is willing to accommodate the volunteer's schedule. We are also looking for this tech-savvy volunteer who can work through limited bandwidth; for example, by recording videos on Loom or other tools to instruct the Finance Manager.

Organization Mission

The Harvest Fund's vision is to be an enterprise that builds the agricultural economy while eradicating poverty and promoting environmental sustainability. Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of Zambian female farming cooperatives. In Zambia and similar countries, women are the backbone of agriculture yet toil away with their bare hands and feet and basic tools. The Harvest Fund creates a profitable half-hectare vegetable plot for each of its 10+ cooperatives that is watered year-round with a solar-powered irrigation system. We provide seed, fertilizer, and regenerative agriculture training to make these women farmers more productive and permanently escape poverty.
