Copy Editing to Prep Agricultural Science Research for Publication
We are looking for volunteer(s) to help prepare pieces on agricultural science and technology for publication. lease to a variety of stakeholders (media, policymakers, scientists, educators, general public). Each volunteer will only complete the editing for one piece.
The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology convenes a network of subject matter matter to create publications on current issues in agriculture. All publications are free to access and are written for a variety of stakeholders. These include media, policymakers, scientists, educators, and the general public.
As a part of this process, we are seeking copy editors to prepare the final, peer-reviewed papers and additional overviews for release. This project involves editing, proofreading, and verifying references for agricultural science and technical publications for release to a variety of stakeholders (media, policymakers, scientists, educators, general public). Each volunteer will only complete the editing for one piece. The editor(s) will review the publication prior to peer review, and be involved in tying sections by different authors together, and then again after peer review to incorporate reviewer comments and additional author comments.
Join our team to help people understand where food is produced, how it is processed and consumed, and the impact agriculture has in society at the local, regional, national, and even global levels. Be a part of a network of societies, universities, nonprofits, and corporations working together to share science-based communications that are credible and unbiased. Editors will have the opportunity to work with recognized subject matter experts, from a variety of sectors on topics related to food science and safety, animal or plant sciences, environmental issues and agricultural technologies.
Publications are produced by a team of authors or a task force of typically 5-8 authors, 3-5 peer reviewers, and the editors. This team is supported by a volunteer Liaison from our Board of Representatives, the CEO of our organization, and Communications Team. The editing process is anticipated to involve 8-9 weeks; 2 weeks for editing prior to peer review, peer review process takes 3-4 weeks and then 2-3 weeks to incorporate reviewer comments and final author comments.
