Developing a Compensation Plan for the Executive Director
I’m seeking guidance on how to structure my own compensation while ensuring financial sustainability for the organization. Our nonprofit is growing, and I want to develop a clear, compliant, and strategic plan for paying myself in a way that aligns with industry standards, legal requirements, and our nonprofit’s long-term goals.
We’re looking for a volunteer with expertise in nonprofit finance, compensation strategy, and budgeting who can help us:
-Understand best practices for determining fair and appropriate executive compensation.
-Identify legal and compliance considerations, including IRS guidelines and board approval processes.
-Develop a roadmap for implementing a sustainable compensation plan that fits.
Being clear on how much I can get paid for this, helps me to project my personal finances and have piece of mind that I don't need to work in 2 businesses simultaneously and can put even more focus on my nonprofit!
