Our nonprofit is searching for a grant writer or talented copywriter to assist our team in reviewing a grant proposal and making updates.

To implement this grant writing project, we'll need two meetings with a volunteer. In our first meeting, we will provide you with a copy and review the application draft with you. We'll align on expectations and agree on the project timeline. Next, you'll review our document using the track changes function checking for inconsistencies and continuity errors, and creates a list of recommended changes to share with us. The project will conclude after up to two rounds of edits which the volunteer will make the agreed-upon changes to the document.

EVA focuses on a high-adventure outdoor recreation activity in which service members
returning from deployment participate as a unit to garner cohesion, and resiliency and maintain combat
readiness. We believe that this is a tool to assist Service Members in finding a new level of normal
and bringing that level down from the peak response to a stressful situation. Our association provides
recreational activities that can recreate an adrenaline rush using mountain biking, road biking, and hiking, all of which are to encourage physical activity and improve mental health.

We have a dedicated team member for the project who will provide you with the document that needs to be reviewed in an easily shareable format (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc). We'll also send you the proposal and application guidelines.

My name is Jacob Cruz-Ratliff, and I am the Founder/Owner of Expeditionary Veterans Association (EVA), which is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt veterans charity organization. I served in the U.S. Army from 2000-2004 and w/ a combat tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003; I am a 100% Disabled Combat-Veteran due to my military service. Well, that is enough about me, let’s talk about the real reason I am reaching out to you. EVA was started to assist Veterans that have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and to assist them in organizing outdoor types of activities with other Veterans that suffer from PTSD. Two to Four times a week, year-round, we host mountain bike trips in hopes to help these Veterans adjust back into society to include making new friendships as they once did while serving in the military. Our mission and moto is, “To provide recreational therapy to Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel that suffer with Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (PTSD) via Mountain-Biking and other outdoor recreational therapy activities.” We hope that our organization can provide a better way of life for them. As for now the County of San Diego, CA and County of Riverside, CA is where EVA Headquarters is currently located, in hopes to spread to other regions in California within the coming years. In January 2023, we opened our program in Las Vegas, Nevada and October 2024 we opened our newest program in Saint Louis, Missouri. We hope in 2025/2026 to open our program to cover Texas and Oklahoma.
