LMS Instructional Educational Design
At the International Girls Academy, we are excited to partner with a skilled volunteer to support the development of a Learning Management System (LMS) that will enhance the educational experience for the young women in our program. Our mission is to empower girls globally through education, mentorship, and leadership training, and having a well-designed LMS is essential to scaling our impact and ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of our curriculum.
Specifically, we are looking for a talented designer with experience in UI/UX and e-learning platforms to help us build out the structure and visual design of our LMS. The volunteer will assist with tasks such as creating user-friendly interfaces, designing engaging course layouts, and establishing a cohesive visual identity for the platform that aligns with our brand. We envision the LMS including interactive modules, video lessons, downloadable resources, quizzes, and tracking tools for student progress.
This project is still in the foundational phase, so the volunteer will have the opportunity to contribute to the vision and functionality of the platform from the ground up. Their insights and expertise will be instrumental in creating a system that is intuitive, accessible, and inspiring for our global community of learners.
Ultimately, this LMS will serve as a vital tool to connect, educate, and empower girls across diverse geographies, helping us deliver on our mission more efficiently and effectively.
At the International Girls Academy, our mission is to empower girls around the world through education, mentorship, and leadership development. This LMS project is a key strategic step in bringing that mission to life on a broader scale. By helping us design an engaging, intuitive Learning Management System, a Taproot volunteer will directly contribute to expanding access to high-quality educational resources for girls in underserved communities—many of whom face systemic barriers to formal education and leadership training.
The LMS will allow us to deliver our core curriculum in a digital format, reaching more students across different time zones, languages, and learning environments. Volunteers will be helping us create a space where girls can access interactive lessons, complete assignments, track their progress, and connect with mentors—no matter where they are in the world. This platform will serve as a virtual bridge, connecting students to opportunity, support, and a global community of peers.
By lending your design expertise, you won’t just be building a platform—you’ll be building pathways to leadership, confidence, and lifelong learning for the next generation of changemakers. Your work will have a lasting impact on how girls learn, grow, and lead, and we are thrilled to invite you to be part of that journey.
At the International Girls Academy, we are committed to setting this LMS design project up for success and ensuring a smooth, collaborative experience for our Taproot volunteer. Our team has already secured full internal buy-in for this initiative, recognizing the critical role a well-designed LMS will play in expanding access to our education and leadership programming. We’ve designated a dedicated project lead who will serve as the primary point of contact and ensure clear, consistent communication throughout the partnership.
In preparation, we’ve gathered key materials including our curriculum outlines, branding guidelines, student personas, and examples of LMS features we admire. We’ve also defined initial goals for the platform, such as enhancing student engagement, creating accessible learning modules, and allowing our facilitators to track progress and provide feedback.
This project builds on previous strategic planning efforts and aligns with our long-term vision to scale globally and deliver our curriculum in a more structured, digital format. Once the LMS design is finalized, our internal team is prepared to implement and test the system with pilot student cohorts, gather feedback, and make refinements. We see this project not as a standalone effort, but as an essential step in building a sustainable and impactful learning experience for the girls we serve.
We’re excited to partner with a skilled volunteer and are fully committed to making the most of their time, talent, and contributions.
