We’re seeking a skilled volunteer accountant or nonprofit finance professional to help us clean up our QuickBooks records and review our overall tax setup. As a small nonprofit with limited internal financial expertise, we need someone who can work fairly independently and guide us through what needs to be corrected, why, and how to maintain best practices going forward.

Tasks include:

Reviewing and cleaning up our QuickBooks (reconciling accounts, correcting categorization, etc.)

Ensuring our bookkeeping aligns with nonprofit 501(c)(3) standards

Reviewing and advising on our tax setup to ensure we’re ready for year-end 990 filing

Guiding us on setting up proper payroll/tax procedures for an out-of-state employee

Identifying any monthly, quarterly, or annual tax/reporting responsibilities we may have across all states we operate in

Helping us understand any additional tax or compliance requirements specific to being an ECM (Enhanced Care Management) and CS (Community Supports) provider under CalAIM

We can dedicate a staff member to work closely with the volunteer and provide any documents or support needed. We are hoping for about 4 hours of support per week, with a goal to complete the project within 4–5 weeks.

Your support will help us build a solid financial foundation as we grow our work in fatherhood, reentry, and family restoration—ultimately strengthening our ability to serve families in need.

This project is essential to helping us strengthen the financial backbone of Man 2 Man – Urban Youth Advocate, so we can continue transforming lives through our work in fatherhood, family restoration, and reentry support. As a nonprofit serving low-income communities and families impacted by systemic challenges, it’s critical that we maintain accurate, compliant financial systems—especially as we expand our services through programs like Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports (CS) under CalAIM.

Your support will help ensure we can confidently manage multi-state tax responsibilities, support out-of-state employees, and meet all nonprofit financial requirements. This stability will allow us to focus more on what we do best: empowering fathers, supporting returning citizens, and reducing the long-term effects of father absence and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in underserved communities.

By sharing your time and expertise, you'll directly impact our ability to grow, serve more families, and remain a trusted, sustainable force in the communities that need us most.

We’re committed to setting this project up for success by ensuring strong internal support and clear communication throughout. Our leadership team fully supports this effort, and we have designated a staff member who will work directly with the volunteer, provide access to necessary financial records, and be available for regular check-ins.

We’ve already gathered our existing QuickBooks data, organized related financial documents, and outlined our primary goals for this project. We understand the importance of this work and are ready to implement any improvements or recommendations provided. This project will directly strengthen our nonprofit’s financial infrastructure, helping us grow sustainably and meet all compliance obligations, especially as an ECM/CS provider.

We see this as a critical investment in our long-term stability and impact—and we’re excited to collaborate with a skilled volunteer who can help us get there.

Organization Mission

Man 2 Man – Urban Youth Advocate is a multifaceted intervention, reentry, and educational support system dedicated to restoring families and empowering fathers. As a certified provider of Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports (CS) under California’s CalAIM initiative, we work in collaboration with Inland Life Services (ILS), Kaiser Permanente, and Partnership HealthPlan to deliver holistic, trauma-informed services to individuals facing complex health and social challenges. Our mission is to break the cycle of father absence and generational trauma by equipping men—particularly those impacted by incarceration, systemic inequities, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)—with culturally relevant tools to become active, present, and consistent fathers. Through comprehensive fatherhood education, reentry support, emotional wellness services, and community-based initiatives, we foster family restoration, resilience, and long-term healing for individuals and their communities.
