Veteran Retreats Foundation (VRF) is seeking a skilled grant writer with experience in Veterans Affairs or federal funding opportunities to help us prepare a compelling grant proposal for the “Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program” (FY 2025). The volunteer will support us in drafting, structuring, and refining the grant application due by July 11, 2025. This is a high-impact project, as we currently have over 100 veterans on our waitlist for our mental health retreats. We anticipate needing the volunteer's expertise for 2–5 hours per week over a few weeks, with flexible scheduling. The grant funds will be directly allocated to organizing and expanding our therapeutic retreats for veterans.

This project is vital to advancing VRF’s mission: to restore the well-being of veterans through immersive, therapeutic retreats. By securing federal funding through this grant, we will be able to provide holistic retreats that include peer-to-peer support, outdoor therapy, and alternative healing methods, specifically tailored for veterans coping with PTSD, substance abuse, and mental health challenges. The volunteer’s contribution will directly enable us to serve more veterans who are waiting for help. This is not just grant writing, it’s a chance to support life-changing programs and offer hope and healing to those who have served our country.

Our team is fully aligned and ready to support the grant writing process. We have secured internal buy-in from our leadership and board, and we’ve already collected critical documentation, data, and prior grant materials to streamline the volunteer's work. We’ve also completed similar funding applications and have access to letters of support from local and federal stakeholders, including the Mayor of a Tennessee city and a U.S. Congressman. The volunteer will be working closely with our core team, including a staff member dedicated to project coordination. The final grant submission will be reviewed, finalized, and submitted promptly to meet the July 11 deadline.
