We are seeking a web designer! Front-end development experience is encouraged as we need to implement a few discreet updates to our site.

Our most immediate and urgent need is fixing the hamburger menu: the colors are incorrect, the links are outdated, and despite our best efforts, we have been unable to resolve the issue. The original site was built by a designer who has since passed away, and we are looking for someone who can help us move forward respectfully and efficiently.

We’ve spent years refining our all-abilities programs, and now we’re ready to expand our reach. A seamless, intuitive website experience is essential to helping families, volunteers, and partners find what they need - and that starts with clear navigation. By helping us update our hamburger menu, you’ll improve the way people engage with our site, making it easier to access program information, get involved, and make a donation.

Although our original website designer is no longer with us, we’ve documented as much as we can about how the current site was built and what we hope to change with the menu. We’ve also reviewed our internal capacity to maintain and update the site going forward, and we’re ready to implement your recommendations with the help of our staff or an additional developer volunteer.

Organization Mission

Girls in Gear emboldens girls of all ages and abilities, especially low-income girls and girls of color, by using bike skills to foster confidence, autonomy, and independence. Our programs - Pedal Power, Club GiG, Glide-to-Ride, and Camp GiG - offer safe, inclusive spaces for growth, focusing on life skills beyond biking. With a no-questions-asked scholarship policy, we remove barriers by providing bikes, helmets, and financial support, ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive. Learn more at girlsingear.org.
