Instagram Account Recovery

We are seeking a volunteer with experience in Instagram account recovery and social media account management to help us:
1. Recover access to our original Instagram handle: @yaldafrica, which was created by a former team member who no longer remembers the password or the email address used.

2. Merge our current active handle (@yaldadumela) with @yaldafrica, or migrate our audience and content in the most effective way possible.

We need a volunteer who can:
-Advise and guide us through Instagram’s account recovery options
-Assist in contacting Meta/Instagram support to retrieve or deactivate the old account
-Recommend the best approach to merge, rebrand, or redirect followers to maintain continuity
-Support implementation of the final solution alongside our Communications Team

This project will require 2–4 hours per week over a few weeks, depending on the complexity of the account recovery process.

As a pan-African, youth-led nonprofit, YALDA (Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa) depends on strong digital visibility to connect with thousands of young leaders, volunteers, and partners across Africa and the diaspora.

Regaining access to our @yaldafrica handle will allow us to:

Present a cohesive and recognizable brand identity

Rebuild our reach on Instagram under the official YALDA name

Engage young Africans with leadership opportunities, events, and campaigns that align with our mission

This project will directly support our ability to grow and activate our youth network and expand our partnerships with global institutions like the African Union, UN-Habitat, UNECA, and others.

By helping us reclaim our digital name, the volunteer will be amplifying a powerful youth movement across the African continent.

Our internal team is fully aligned and ready to prioritize this effort. We’ve gathered all available login details and past communication related to the @yaldafrica account, and screenshots and public links to the account in question.

A dedicated contact from our Communications Team will work alongside the volunteer. We’ll ensure timely responses, implementation of recommendations, and consistent collaboration throughout the engagement. The volunteer’s suggestions will be directly implemented to restore and unify our Instagram presence.
