Building the Backbone: Grant Writing & Funding Strategy
Project Scope
Grant Prospecting – Identify and prioritize 10–15 funders that align with our mission and programs (TAP, KIWAP, Front Line).
Core Narrative Development – Refine our case statements, program descriptions, and impact language into modular content we can reuse across proposals.
Grants Calendar & Toolkit – Create a basic calendar and assemble standard attachments (IRS letter, budgets, board list, logic model).
Application Support – Depending on timing, help draft or edit 1–2 proposals or LOIs.
We anticipate this project will take 4–6 weeks, with weekly check-ins. You’ll work closely with our Executive Director and Program Director and collaborate through Google Docs, Zoom, or your preferred platform.
Why This Matters
Our mission is to reduce recidivism by equipping formerly incarcerated individuals with tools, training, and support to rebuild their lives. As we expand our flagship TAP program and launch new initiatives for families and veterans, we need a stronger funding strategy to match our growth.
Your expertise will help us build a clearer, more efficient grant writing process—leaving us with a roadmap and resources we can sustain long after the project ends.
We’re expanding our TAP program across Georgia and need a skilled Taproot volunteer to help us build a sustainable grant-writing system. By refining our narratives, identifying funders, and creating reusable tools, you’ll lay the financial foundation for programs that reduce recidivism, support families, and empower veterans.
This isn’t just a grant project—it’s a chance to help rewrite someone’s story.
Committed Team: Our leadership is fully aligned and ready to engage, with a dedicated point of contact to ensure smooth communication and follow-through.
Ready to Learn: We have strong program materials and impact stories in place and are eager for guidance on refining them into funder-ready content.
Proven Partners: This is our fifth Taproot project, and we’ve consistently turned past volunteer contributions into lasting improvements.
Focused on Sustainability: This project will leave us with tools and systems we can continue to use—building a replicable grant strategy that supports long-term impact.
We’re excited to collaborate with a skilled volunteer in a way that’s impactful, respectful of your time, and driven by a shared purpose.
