Help us strengthen our financial management practices! We are looking for a volunteer finance professional to assess our current financial situation, pricing strategy, and risk factors.

Based on your assessment of our organization's financial status, this project could also include conducting a financial reforecasting exercise. We'd also benefit from a volunteer's recommendations for creating a ‘rainy day fund,’ best practices for achieving a healthy annual surplus, or creating financial scenarios for periods of increased community need.

We predict that this finance project will take from 36-48 hours to complete. We're hoping that our pro bono partner will share three to five hours of their time each week with our team.
United Way of Anderson County is at a pivotal financial moment. For years, we’ve stretched every dollar to meet growing community needs—often dipping into reserves just to keep essential programs and partnerships running. With a small staff and limited resources, we’ve been caught in a cycle of chasing smaller donations to stay afloat, rather than investing our energy in the bigger-picture strategies that could lead to long-term growth. We know we can’t sustain this model forever. What we don’t know is where to begin—and we’re afraid that stepping back to assess could cost us the precious momentum we need to keep going.

That’s why we’re looking for a skilled financial volunteer to help us chart a smarter path forward. With the right analysis, we believe we can shift from deficit-driven decision-making to opportunity-driven planning—realigning our operations with our mission and vision for impact. Your expertise could help us understand where we truly stand, identify realistic revenue opportunities, and create a roadmap toward financial stability that doesn’t burn out our team or our reserves. This is not just about spreadsheets—it’s about changing the trajectory of an organization that serves thousands.
To prepare for this project, we have gathered our budgeting information and will share access to our financial management tools.
