Establish an Accounting System & Develop Annual Budget Framework

We are seeking a volunteer to support us in two key areas:
1. Accounting System Development – Establishing a streamlined, reliable accounting system that supports clear financial tracking, reporting, and compliance.

2. Annual Budget Creation – Designing a comprehensive budget that aligns with our organizational goals, programs, and anticipated funding.

This contribution will play a vital role in helping Steam Beans operate efficiently, build donor confidence, and expand our impact. Your expertise will directly support our ability to secure funding, manage resources responsibly, and deliver high-quality STEAM programming to the communities we serve. We would be honored if you would consider taking on this goal with us in this important capacity.

Project Goal: Develop a sustainable accounting system and create a clear, comprehensive annual budget to strengthen Steam Beans’ financial management and transparency.

Steam Beans, Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing STEAM education for youth, with a particular focus on creating equitable opportunities for girls and underrepresented students. As our programs continue to grow, we recognize the critical importance of strengthening our financial infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability and transparency.

We have prepared for this project by scoping it into phases (although we're flexible based on the volunteer's expertise and weekly time commitment):
- Assessment (1–2 weeks): Volunteer reviews current finances, tools, and needs.
- System Setup (2–4 weeks): Configure accounting software and processes.
- Budget Development (2–3 weeks): Draft, review, and finalize budget.
- Training & Handoff (1–2 weeks): Ensure the Steam Beans team can manage it going forward.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Lead: Set up system, draft budget, train team.
- Steam Beans Team: Provide financial records, program costs, and goals.

Deliverables:
- Working accounting system
- Approved annual budget
- Short finance handbook & training session

Success = Clear system + annual budget + trained team for long-term sustainability.
