Financial Audit Review

We are looking for a Taproot volunteer to help us complete an audit review of our nonprofit’s financial statements. This is not a full audit, but rather a review that will provide the level of assurance many of our funders require. The project would involve reviewing our prepared financial statements and supporting documentation, performing standard analytical procedures and inquiries in line with review requirements, and then preparing a formal review report.

This project is especially important for us because several funders request reviewed financials as part of their grant process. Having this completed will strengthen our ability to apply for and maintain funding. In addition, we would greatly value any feedback the volunteer can provide on adjustments or improvements that would make our financial reporting and internal processes stronger.

By helping us complete a financial audit review, you’ll directly strengthen our ability to serve veterans, trauma survivors, and at-risk youth through equine-assisted counseling. Many funders require reviewed financials before awarding larger grants, and your expertise will open doors to new funding that supports mental health services in our community. In other words, the time you contribute behind the scenes will ripple outward into more sessions for those who might not otherwise have access to care. Your skills will give our herd—and the people who heal alongside them—the resources to thrive.

We’re ready to be a strong pro bono partner. Our budgets, balance sheets, and P&L statements are comprehensive and well-organized, and both our accounting staff and board treasurer are available to provide timely support. We use the Wave accounting system. Leadership and board are fully on board with this project, and the reviewed financials will be used right away to strengthen grant applications and demonstrate accountability to funders.
