We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help the Health Justice Initiative (HJI) strengthen its social media presence. Our goal is to build greater visibility for our mission, programs, and partnerships while communicating the real-world impact of our work.

We would like to collaborate with someone who can develop and implement a clear social media strategy that aligns with our organizational goals. Specific tasks may include identifying key messages, designing a content calendar, creating or curating posts, and tracking engagement metrics to refine our approach.

Ideally, the volunteer will be able to commit a consistent number of hours each week to support active posting and audience engagement. A key goal is to build HJI’s internal capacity so that our team can maintain and grow this work after the project concludes.

A more intentional and active social media presence will help the Health Justice Initiative communicate its impact more effectively to funders, partners, and the communities we serve.
This project will play a vital role in advancing the HJI’s mission to promote equitable access to health resources and advocate for communities that are often overlooked in policy and practice. By strengthening our social media presence, we can share the stories, data, and partnerships that demonstrate how health justice takes shape in real lives.

A more consistent and intentional digital presence will help us reach new audiences, attract funding opportunities, and connect with collaborators who share our commitment to equity. It will also help community members and partners stay informed about upcoming programs, advocacy efforts, and ways to get involved.
HJI is well-positioned to make the most of this project. We’ve already identified social media as a key priority for strengthening our communications and fundraising efforts. Our leadership team is aligned on the importance of this work and ready to provide input, feedback, and content support throughout the process.

We have organized our existing visual assets, messaging materials, and program information so that the volunteer can begin with a clear understanding of HJI’s mission and activities.

Our goal is not only to enhance HJI’s online presence during the project period but also to ensure sustainability. We plan to apply the volunteer’s recommendations and templates to continue managing social media internally after the project concludes. The volunteer’s guidance will directly strengthen HJI’s visibility among funders, partners, and community stakeholders.

Organization Mission

Health Justice Initiative’s mission is to promote more just and equitable healthcare, where people of color and other underserved groups can achieve optimal health and well-being. We strive to address the racial and other disparities in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes through litigation, mediation, community organizing and empowerment, and policy advocacy. The future we see for New York is one where race, social, and economic factors no longer determine health outcomes, where residents have both the medical care and legal support they need to thrive, not just survive.
