Session Overview
I formed this nonprofit two years ago but I am uncertain if we have completed all the required steps to be fully considered a nonprofit. I am also seeking advice on creating the bylaws, how to find board members, funding and even narrow down the mission and focus our outreach events if needed.
Nonprofit Overview
Launch Writing NOLA is committed to increasing literacy rates through writing. Writing positively affects reading comprehension and fluency. We mostly work through outreach programs such as writing workshops and write-ins which encourage members to write their stories, and pop-up book stands featuring novels written by authors from diverse backgrounds to foster an interest in reading in communities of marginalized minorities and writing workshops. In the future, we also hope to work with local businesses to provide affordable copywriting services such as blogs, fliers, or advertisements because even though Louisiana ranks low in literacy, there are many small start-ups businesses unable to attract investors or customers because the business owner lacks the skill or the funds to hire a copywriter who can create content for their business.
