What is the relationship between your human resources (HR) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) departments? How does that impact your pro bono programming?
This panel explores the dynamic between these two departments with two Taproot partners, Comcast NBCUniversal and Royal Bank of Canada (RBD) Foundation.
When we at Taproot asked that question in surveys before, we generally find the answers fall across two poles on opposite sides. One is that there’s an acrimonious relationship because these functions have largely been pitted against each other within a company to compete for what is often labeled as discretionary dollars.
And then the other end of the extreme at times is that the function that actually brings these programs to life exists within this broader HR department. But some fall in this in-between space where there is zero relationship between the two.
But at Taproot, some of the most deeply sustained and growing programs are those that come to life through a deep and thoughtful partnership between the CSR and HR functions.
Speakers:
- Lindsay Firestone Gruber, President and CEO at Taproot Foundation
- Jessica Clancy, SVP, Corporate Social Responsibility at Comcast NBCUniversal
- Valerie Chort, VP Corporate Citizenship & Sustainability and Executive Director of the RBC Foundation at RBC
