Volunteer Handbook Development
We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to help us create a comprehensive Volunteer Handbook that contains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for our newly launched initiatives. These include volunteer recruitment, event management, grant writing, and more.
We would love to collaborate with someone who has a background in Human Resources to help us streamline our processes and increase our overall efficiency. This project will involve the following key activities:
Research and Assessment:
1. Review current practices and policies for volunteer recruitment, events, and grant writing.
2. Conduct interviews with staff and current volunteers to identify pain points and areas of improvement.
Documentation:
1. Draft clear and concise guidelines for each initiative (e.g., volunteer onboarding, event planning steps, etc.).
2. Create templates for common tasks like event planning checklists or grant application timelines.
Policy Development:
1.Establish rules and procedures for volunteer conduct, roles, and responsibilities.
2.Develop safety protocols for events and volunteer activities.
Training Materials:
1.Create onboarding materials and training guides for new volunteers.
2.Design a volunteer orientation program or schedule.
Feedback and Revision:
1.Work with the team to review and revise the handbook based on feedback.
2.Implement a process for regular updates and improvements.
It is essential to have clear guidelines in place to ensure our new initiatives are executed effectively and consistently. We can streamline our process, minimize confusion, and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks. A good SOP will help volunteers understand their roles and expectations leading to higher retention and professionalism.
Enhanced volunteer training will deliver consistency in service improving outreach and engagement while minimizing our risk. Structured processes for events and outreach initiatives allow you to engage more veterans in a meaningful way. SOPs for grant writing also enable your team to secure additional funding, which can expand programs and services dedicated to veterans.
This role provides the dedicated skilled volunteer an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting an underserved community and collaborating with a dedicated team. You will be directly contributing to an organization dedicated to supporting veterans. Los Angeles is home to one of the largest populations in America and we service 75% of the county. This project will streamline the organization's processes and volunteers will be able to focus their efforts toward the veterans. Volunteers will be working alongside individual who are committed to the veteran cause.
To prepare, we've designated a team member to oversee the project. We'll provide you with our existing SOPs (if applicable), internal communications regarding employment policies, and any other employment policies that we have in place. The volunteer should expect to spend 15-20 hours over 6-9 weeks.
