We seek a volunteer to help us develop a LinkedIn profile and presence for our small but mighty organization, Communities for Healing and Justice (CHJ), which works to support formerly incarcerated people and others experiencing trauma and transitions.

Several years ago, our dedicated group of individuals, who had began working with formerly incarcerated people through a church, moved to an existing nonprofit. When that nonprofit closed in the summer of 2023, we immediately formed a new nonprofit, CHJ, to continue this important work for our growing "family." Our activities have continued seamlessly ever since.

During our first year as CHJ, we developed a website, a one-pager, and an Instagram page to help get the word out about our mission and work. We have met with individuals and organizations throughout our region and have been presenters at local and national gatherings. We realize we are now at the stage where we need a stronger social media presence, specifically to network and connect to other individuals in our field of work and to have an online presence for those who are interested in supporting us and want more information about us.

CHJ is a trauma-informed organization dedicated to building a restorative and healing community. Our story began 16 years ago with the creation of our flagship program, Coming Home, which was originally created to welcome formerly incarcerated individuals back into a supportive environment. The program attracted passionate community members who helped it grow. Since then, Coming Home has been researched by academic institutions and replicated in various sites. Our team, which includes members of the targeted communities, has enabled us to expand our reach so that we now work with veterans, survivors of violence, and those affected by homelessness and trafficking, offering many trauma healing and educational opportunities - along with the continuation of Coming Home. We have even begun exploring how to adapt our model for youth and newly arrived immigrants. Much of our work takes place in Harlem NY and includes collaboration with a variety of organizations and individuals.

So, our community and programming are running strong. But now that we are 18 months into our existence as a new nonprofit, we need to better connect and network with others, share resources and knowledge, and to successfully fundraise to secure our future as we work for social change. A LinkedIn presence is a critical piece of that equation.

We have much of the information needed to develop our summary and the dedication of several volunteers who bring a range of experience to the project and who are eager to work in partnership with consultant. This small team will also be involved in implementing the approved plan.
