Mapping the Strategic Planning Process

Our organization will need to develop a strategic plan. Our first step is to have someone help us understand the steps in this process so we know more about what is ahead of us and how each step builds on the others. Our goal for this project is to have a map of the strategic planning process. We are a small, all-volunteer organization who formed in 2016 because of our interest in conservation and animals. Conservationists asked us for help with rhino conservation and we have been funding projects in Africa ever since. All of our board members have work backgrounds in healthcare (some are in administration) and all but 1 work full-time. We are highly motivated and anxious to have the help of experts.

This work will support the development of PARCA and therefore, our reach. We want volunteers to know that our work is not just about rhino conservation - it is about the communities who live around these animals. If we do not engage them, we will not save rhinos...so our reach is deeper than it may seem when you see we focus on saving rhinos. We take groups of travelers to Africa every year to see our work (and their support) in action - these life-changing trips are super important to our work and are another way we impact people with our work to save rhinos. We are a group of healthcare workers who came together to solve a problem that interested us - we do not have nonprofit, conservation, board, or development experience. Yet we have been successful because we are diligent, focused, and passionate. We look forward to a partner who shares our enthusiasm for making a difference and can help take us to the next level.

We started to talk about the strategic planning process right before COVID and we are ready to dig in again. We are highly motivated to do this work because we want to not just continue our work in this space (for the animals AND the people), but to grow our impact. The board all agree it is time for more formal approach to our work and we are ready to go - but we want to do it as best we can so are looking for experts to help guide us.
