Annual Operating Budget Development

I’m seeking support from a Taproot volunteer to help develop a comprehensive annual operating budget for my nonprofit organization. Our mission is to provide free college tours, career readiness programs, and empowerment opportunities to youth—especially young girls from underserved communities. We aim to serve approximately 400 kids annually through multiple programs.

I need a volunteer who can help me:

-Build a detailed, realistic budget that aligns with our programming goals

-Calculate costs for in-state and out-of-state college tours, community events, and workshops

-Include key expenses like transportation, lodging, food, venue rentals, supplies, and staffing

-Structure the budget to include a $75,000 salary for me as the Executive Director

-Create a format that’s easy to present to potential funders and grantmakers

-Provide guidance on how to estimate costs per student and plan for growth

This budget will be the foundation for our fundraising strategy and future grant proposals. I'm passionate about the mission, but I need help turning my vision into a clear financial roadmap.

I’m fully invested in the success of this project and have already taken key steps to ensure we’re prepared to work efficiently with a Taproot volunteer. I’ve gathered program outlines, projected participant numbers, a list of planned events and tours, and preliminary cost estimates to provide a clear starting point for building our annual budget. I’ve also developed a strong vision for the nonprofit’s mission and services, which will guide all financial planning.

While I’m a solo founder at this stage, I’ve been laying the groundwork for future growth and sustainability. Once the budget is finalized, I plan to immediately use it in grant proposals, sponsorship outreach, and presentations to potential partners and donors. I understand that the outcomes of this project are only as strong as the follow-through, and I’m committed to putting this work into action to bring real opportunities to youth in our community.
